Certification Program

How to Apply

An online application flow is coming soon. In the meantime, here's how the certification process works today.

    Review the standards

    Read the certification levels and requirements on the Overview & Standards page to confirm you meet the training-hour and experience prerequisites.

    Gather your documentation

    Prepare proof of training hours, references from a CIWA-certified mentor (if applicable), and a summary of your practice experience.

  3. 3

    Contact your local chapter

    Applications are currently coordinated through CIWA chapters. Reach out to your nearest chapter (Canada, US, China, or Hong Kong) to start the process.

    Complete your assessment

    Applicants complete a written and practical assessment aligned with CIWA's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

  5. 5

    Receive your credential

    Once approved, you'll be added to the public Credential Directory and receive your CIWA certification.
